The major in Social Sciences introduces students to the major disciplines that make up the social sciences and provides advanced coursework in several of these. Students in this interdisciplinary program will also develop their analytical and communication skills. Social sciences graduates will be prepared to enter a variety of graduate or professional programs and to succeed in such careers as business, education, government, information management, and law.
The Social Sciences major is designed for students who do not choose to specialize in any of the other majors offered in the School of Social Sciences & Education. Thus, the Social Sciences major may not be earned in conjunction with any of the other majors offered in the School of Social Sciences & Education.

Students who plan to teach Social Science on the secondary level should consult with the School of Education early in their academic careers to determine the specific requirements.
