Finance is the study and practice of decision-making to acquire and manage real and financial assets to create and maintain economic (market) value.

Finance has multiples areas of interest and opportunity. Corporate finance explores how to value the assets a firm acquires and raise the necessary funds to purchase and manage the acquired assets to maximize the value of the firm. Investment courses examine portfolio theory and how to select and value stocks. Insurance and real estate courses examine property, liability, marine and health contracts including both personal and commercial lines.

The Finance major is excellent preparation for students planning to enter graduate programs or seeking a professional degree in law, accounting, or other professional programs.

Take a look further into the course requirements, by viewing the Finance guide sheet. (Please make sure to select the correct catalog year, course requirements may vary per year)

The major guide sheets can be used a reference when selecting classes. These guide sheets are not used by the Registrars office to confer degrees.
